The Dredge Report – Week of November 1, 2020

The County Dredge teams work continues breaking down the equipment from the Dead Neck/Sampsons Island project in Cotuit. Part of the work required pipe being removed from the Booster Station that was staged on the barge as well as from the Cod Fish I.

This Booster Station was rented and will be returned to Ellicott Dredges as our Booster Station was being rebuilt and is now back on Cape and ready for service.

Due to the strong winds on Monday & Tuesday, we had to postpone the offloading to Wednesday.

As seen in the picture below, the offloading of this 13 ton piece of equipment requires a large crane and crew to safely move it onto the truck.

The Cod Fish II was moved from Falmouth to Truro, traveling through Woods Hole,  Buzzards Bay, the Cape Cod Canal and into Cape Cod Bay to Pamet Harbor, a distance of 90 nautical miles.

A few great pictures below were taken by Deckhand Andrew Dipietro showing part of the route through the Canal aboard the Cod Fish II.

This weeks work has the Cod Fish II starting the Pamet Approach Channel and Inner Harbor project for the Town of Truro as well as the Parker River Approach Channel project for the Town of Yarmouth with the Sand Shifter that will be moved from Cotuit along with 9,000 feet of pipe that has to be broken up in several sections for the transit to Yarmouth. Adjacent to Parker River is Bass River which will be the next project for the Sand Shifter once Parker River is complete.
