The Barnstable County Marine Team Presents at Key Events for Aquaculture and Fisheries Communities

This past week, the Marine Team at Barnstable County Cape Cod Cooperative Extension presented at these key events for the aquaculture and fisheries communities.

Josh Reitsma, Fisheries & Aquaculture Specialist with Woods Hole Sea Grant and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, presented, “Exploring Value in Potential New Products for The Shellfish Aquaculture in Massachusetts” at the 40th annual Milford Aquaculture Seminar in CT. This event is a way for shellfish biologists, managers, and shell fishers to share research results. Since 1975, NOAA Fisheries’ Milford Laboratory has convened the Milford Aquaculture Seminar as a forum for technology transfer among Fisheries staff, the aquaculture community, scientific and academic communities, regulators and the public.

Fisheries & Aquaculture Specialist Abigail Archer spoke on protecting our waters at the American Fisheries Society Southern New England Chapter event.  Established in 1968, the Southern New England Chapter is one of many American Fisheries Society Chapters created to provide regional support for the objectives of the parent society. The AFS is the oldest and largest scientific group dedicated to the advancement of fisheries science and the conservation of renewable aquatic resources.
