SALES VOLUME CONTINUES TO DIP & VALUE RISES!
Barnstable County Register of Deeds, John F. Meade, reports that the volume of real estate sales in August 2018 was down 5.1% from August 2017 volume and the total value of sales was up 6.7% from the previous year. The median individual property sale value was up 9.9% from the previous year. There was an 9.2% decrease in the volume of mortgage activity from August 2017 levels.
Year to Date: Volume of Sales is down 4.2%; Total Value of Sales is up 1%; Individual Sales Value is up 5.7%; Mortgage Volume is down 7.6%.
Register Meade reports that there were 685 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in August 2018 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $348,864,366.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in August 2018 was $373,500.00.
There were 994 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in August 2018 with a total value of $350,039,923.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $259,731.00.
By way of comparison, there were 722 deeds recorded at the Barnstable Registry of Deeds in August 2017 with stated sales values above $50,000.00 representing a stated value of $327,001,447.00 in county-wide real estate sales. Based on all property sales valued above $50,000.00, the median sale price of property in Barnstable County in August 2017 was $340,000.00.
There were 1,095 mortgages recorded with values above $50,000.00 in August 2017 with a total value of $391,764,717.00. The median mortgage amount, commercial, residential or other, was $250,400.00.
