Update on Barnstable County Regional Emergency Shelters Status

  • The Regional Emergency Shelters at Falmouth High School and Barnstable Intermediate School are closed as of 4 p.m. Sunday
  • The Regional Emergency Shelter at Cape Cod Regional Technical High School will remain open until further notice
  • A reception center has been opened at the American Red Cross Chapter House at 286 South Street, Hyannis

BARNSTABLE (MA) March 4, 2018 – At its 4 p.m. March 4, 2018, conference call, the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) determined the status of the regional shelters.

The consolidation plan is as follows. The Falmouth and Barnstable shelters were closed at 4 p.m. Sunday. The shelter at the Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich remains open.

A reception center has been opened at the American Red Cross Chapter House in Hyannis at 286 South Street.

Individuals who need transportation to a shelter should contact their local police department using the non-emergency phone number.

The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee would like to thank its shelter partners for their extraordinary efforts during this major event: Barnstable County All Hazards Incident Management Team; the police, fire, and emergency management departments of Cape Cod; the school districts of Falmouth and Barnstable and the Cape Cod Regional Technical High School; American Red Cross; Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps; AmeriCorps Cape Cod; Cape Cod Amateur Radio Emergency Services; Cape Cod Disaster Animal Response Team; and Falmouth and Yarmouth-Dennis Community Emergency Response Teams.
