Barnstable County takes stock in wake of storm
The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) held a conference call at 8 p.m. Thursday to take stock of conditions on Cape Cod in the wake of the winter storm.
STATUS: The BCREPC Multi-Agency Coordination Center (MACC) continues to operate and monitor the current conditions across Cape Cod. At this time, the Regional Emergency Shelter System is on standby. The BCREPC will continue to evaluate the potential need for shelters as electric service to the region is restored. At the time of the call there were approximately 45,000 Cape customers without electricity according to Eversource, the electric utility.
Travel continues to be dangerous at this time. The BCREPC urges citizens to stay off the roads and highways until crews have had a chance to clear them.
