Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps To Hold Well Baby Fair
There will be Well Baby Fair on Saturday, May 28, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center at 141 Bassett Lane. Sponsored by the Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps (CCMRC) in association with A Baby Center, the Fair is free and open to anyone interested in infant health and safety.
The Fair will include information about nutrition, breast-feeding, maternal depression, immunization, fire safety, babywearing, play and development, the WIC program, disaster response, potassium iodide and dental care. A quiet nursing corner will be available. In addition, there will be a car safety seat checkpoint and infant CPR training. There will also be a raffle to benefit A Baby Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to aiding children in need on Cape Cod and the Islands.
Diana Gaumond, the director of the Cape Cod Medical Reserve Corps, explained the reason for holding the Fair: “The MRC is a volunteer organization designed to help communities deal with disasters. Part of our mission is to strengthen public health because healthy people are better able to cope with disasters and emergencies during and after the event. Good health is a life-long mission and getting off to a good start is crucial. We hope that our Well Baby Fair will help our littlest Cape Codders with their good start.”
