Emergency Pet Care Event in Harwich on April 30, 2016
The Cape Cod Disaster Animal Response Team (CCDART) is holding a Volunteer Recruitment and Community Preparedness event at the Harwich Community Center on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Running from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., this educational event is designed to help people become better prepared for disasters, especially when it comes to taking care of pets.
Those attending the event will also learn more about CCDART, a local, all-volunteer non-profit organization.
One of CCDART’s missions on Cape Cod is to operate the pet shelters that are attached to the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Shelter System. When the Emergency Shelter System is activated, CCDART volunteers provide around-the-clock care for pets whose owners are staying in the Emergency Shelter.
CCDART hopes that people who love animals and have a desire to serve their community would consider becoming CCDART volunteers.
This session will include information on preparedness along with some real world examples of “go bags” used by CCDART volunteers.
Light refreshments will be served.
