BCREPC on alert for weekend storm

The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) held a conference call at 1 p.m. Thursday to discuss the winter weather predicted to arrive on Cape Cod over the Saturday/Sunday time frame. The latest forecast models show the storm traveling south of Cape Cod resulting in a much lighter snowfall than that which is expected in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

A decision on whether or not to activate the Regional Shelter System would be made when there is more certainty about the storm’s track and intensity. At this time, the BCREPC has asked all its Regional Shelter System partners to notify their members to remain on alert. The BCREPC advises the citizens of Barnstable County to remain “weather aware” and be prepared for winter weather conditions.
