County Wastewater Plan Sent To State For Approval

A finalized version of the 208 Plan has been sent to the state and the Environmental Protection Agency for review, but according to Cape Cod Commission executive director Paul J. Niedzwiecki, the real work has only just begun.

The commission was ordered by Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection in January 2013 to update the Cape’s water quality management plan to comply with section 208 of the Clean Water Act. A final version of the 208 Plan was sent to the state DEP and the EPA on June 1. The plan lays out a comprehensive, collaborative approach for managing Cape Cod’s 53 watersheds. The responsibility for maintaining them is being shared among the region’s 15 communities.
