Barnstable County REPC on alert for weekend storm

The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) held a conference call at 3 p.m. Thursday to discuss the winter storm predicted to hit Cape Cod over the Saturday/Sunday time frame. The latest forecast indicates that the storm could be significant, packing high winds and a considerable amount of snow.

A decision on whether or not to activate the Regional Shelter System will be made when there is more certainty about the storm track and intensity. At this time, the BCREPC has asked all its Regional Shelter System partners to notify their members of the possibility of shelter activation and to remain on alert. The BCREPC advises the citizens of Barnstable County to remain “weather aware” and prepared for winter storm conditions.
