BCREPC monitors approach of Hurricane Arthur
The Barnstable County Regional Emergency Planning Committee (BCREPC) held an operational conference call at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 4, 2014, to review the latest information on Hurricane Arthur.
Current forecasts indicate the hurricane will pass to the east of Cape Cod during Friday evening and should depart the area quickly. There is a chance of wind gusts in the 40- to 50-mph on Nantucket and the outer Cape during the storm’s closest passage. A period of heavy rain will accompany the storm.
The BCREPC is closely monitoring the storm and given the current forecast does not anticipate activating the Regional Shelter System. Contingency plans are in place, though, should any openings be necessary. If conditions change, the BCREPC will re-evaluate the situation.
