Cape Cod Mosquito Control PSA

Mosquito samples collected in Barnstable County tested positive for West Nile Virus this week.  

 

FALMOUTH: Two samples of Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes trapped in Woods Hole on 8/7 tested positive for West Nile Virus.

 

BARNSTABLE: Three samples of Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes trapped in Cotuit on 8/7 tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Two samples of Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes trapped in Marstons Mills on 7/31 and 8/7 tested positive for West Nile Virus.

One sample of Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes trapped in Hyannis on 7/31 tested positive for West Nile Virus.

 

DENNIS:  One sample of Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes trapped in Dennis on 8/7 tested positive for West Nile Virus.

 

BOURNE:  Three samples of Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes trapped in Sagamore on 8/7 tested positive for West Nile virus.

One sample of Culex pipiens/restuans mosquitoes trapped in Pocasset on 8/7 tested positive for West Nile virus.

 

YARMOUTH:  One sample of Culex pipiens/restuans  mosquitoes trapped in South Yarmouth on 8/7 tested positive for West Nile virus.

 

Our crews are out today and will be out again tomorrow in these areas checking and treating catch basins and containers with standing water.  

 

It’s been raining:  Any reminder to the public to check their property for standing water and use EPA registered repellents would be appreciated.
